My next favourite was actually Student Orientation, which had some nice moments and an intriguing character. It’s also very well-written but the characters didn’t come alive for me the scenes were too mechanical for my tastes. Simon & Sir has been recommended by a couple of other people. To round out the post, I'll add a couple of other half-hearted recs, but there's a big gap between Brains Over Brawn and everything else on this list.įirst, MaineBoyXY did have a couple of other stories: Eight years of reading Nifty/Authoritarian and this is almost all I have to show for it! You’ll notice this story was written in 2001-02. See Out: A Brains Over Brawn fanfic (complete!) *** *** ETA: I've now written the fanfic I've always wanted to for this story. You’ll know what I mean when you finish the last chapter.) It feels like the real thing.īest of all, it has a happy ending. This is a relationship story with none of the sentimental romanticism of most LJ writing these are male characters, drawn with a masculine sensibility. It’s a very confident, sure writing style, with just the right amounts of description, dialogue, introspection, moments from everyday life and, of course, sex.
If I asked them, they might beat the shit out of me, but no ass fucking, that's for sure. I mean, fuck, my friends sure weren't going to step up to fuck my ass. The D/s dynamic works perfectly, and both characters are flawed but appealing. There are moments of antagonism, sweetness, hostility, affection, genuine submission and real mixed up feelings. I think this story hits every one of my buttons – there’s dominance and submission, a little overt violence and a lot of mind games, punishment, control, a little public humiliation, and lots of hot sex.īut much more important, the story features two strong, believable, compelling characters with honest emotions. There are 13 chapters, so don’t believe him when he keeps saying that was the last chapter. It starts off a little slow, but it picks up. If you have any interest in the stuff I write, you’ll want to read this one.
I go back and read it every couple of months. I wish I’d written this – it makes me want to write friendfic. I’m working on the next part of the Jack trilogy and hope to start posting next week (I need to get a couple of chapters ahead to make sure everything is working out).īut in the meantime, I really want to rec – no, sing the praises of – this underappreciated story at Nifty:
